To see if you have a simpler keystroke logger, type in an unusual word such as purplecandle. Then go to START - SEARCH - ALL FILES AND FOLDERS - A WORD OR PHRASE IN THE FILE - type in purplecandle. If you have a keystroke logger without encryption, you will find the text log file if you have a simple keystroke logger.

However, there are keystroke loggers with encryption that can hide log files. Panda Software seems to have a nice Anti-Virus/Anti-spy ware program. You can download a working trial version at http://www.pandasoftware.com that will scan and eliminate them it finds one.

They don't need to use keyloggers at the workplace. All they have to do is monitor network traffic. It tells them what kind of data is transmitted from your computer, what is being received, and the source of that data like a website, network resource.

There was an employee who was harassing a female employee, the IT manager had all activity monitored and logged into a file. All harassing emails sent by that employee were then forwarded to police and the DA's office for prosecution.
