Here is the Original Soundtrack for the movie. A good way to search for soundtracks is to just Google the name of the movie in "quototation marks" like that, with letter OST next to it. This is what I found

I don't have the movie and don't recall the song you are talling about. If I had to blind bet from your descrption of the song I would guess it was part of a Jan and Dean song. They were the originator of the beach harmonies.

i think of the unique version of that track replaced into sung by Frank Sinatra. yet there´s a version by Ella Fitzgerald, one by Yvonne Roome and yet another one by Abbey Lincoln aswell. i'm hoping this facilitates. :)
