What's going on here? Pedro Martinez would be pissing in his pants if he versed the yankee line-up. He gave the yankees 4 championships. 2001, 2003, and 2004, and this year was suppose to be their championship years. I think it's the players, it looked like they don't wanna win anymore. The last time i saw the yankee team that wanted to win so badly was in the 2001 playoffs and 2003 against the red sox. It looks liked only Wang, Jeter, Matsui, Cano wants to win the world series. The rest wants to stay home and jerk-off with their wives.

its not Torre's fault. blame the moron that keeps signing once great players that are on the decline to incredibly large contracts that make it impossible to get rid of them.

a million/2 and a million/2. You cant blame a supervisor while a team is undesirable and failing - if a team is undesirable their undesirable. Joe Torre has been not something yet a saint and an entire type act with the Yankees. Georgie ought to have stated it in extra of a frequently happening rate way - not purely blurting out - 'If he doesnt win this evening hes fired.' I mean come on - on the grounds that his time with 'ninety six he has delivered you.. Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Mariano Reveria, Andy Pettite..etc... 1996 : Championship 1997 : ALCS 1998 : Championship 1999 : Championship 2000 : Championship 2001 : WS. yet than lower back..the Yankees have a two hundred,000,000 funds and havent won a championship in over 6 years (that's lots for Georgie and a few Yankee followers.)

I agree the pitching was bad and Randy Johnson is no longer useful. Torre probably made some mistakes during this series, but mainly the team did not get the big hits when they needed them. I'm not a Yankee fan but I have to admit they played a terrific second half of the regular season. I'll enjoy the rest of the playoffs a lot more without the Yankees. Changing managers is probably not the right decision, but look at who is making the decisions. His track record when you take into account how much the payroll is, is dismal.

He probably could have tweaked the lineup better but its a team effort. Other than Posada, Cano and probably Jeter, each and everyone of those guys probably think they should have been the one to save the Yankees but couldn't do it alone. I blame it on Steinbrenner, championships can't be bought. Plus what always happens when Torre stands up to him. It was George who spent all that money and ignored the pitching. Maybe I'll take Jeter off my goodguy list. He's the team captain and should have lit a fire under those boys.

No, it is not totally his fault. He does share some of the blame. You are right Wang, Jeter, Matsui, and Cano played their A's off. It seemed to me that the Yankees had a " just another day at the office" attitude. That is another reason they are, as you said so eloquently..., spending quality time with their wives and not in Oakland playing the A's.

First off, too much credit is given to Joe Torre for winning and too much blame is bestowed upon him for the Yankees losing...compare the most recent teams to those in the late 90's. This team is overloaded with egotistical offensive players who have no concept of team and none of them can carry a team to save their lives...which is probably why the Rangers were in last place every year Arod was on the team. The late 90's team was overloaded with GREAT pitching and solid, fundamental offensive players who played great defense and worked the count at the plate...not looking to hit a 3 run homerun with no one on base...but just looking to get on base with quality at bats so their teammates behind them could drive them in...Brosius, Oneal, Girardi..etc...that was a "team"...the yankees now will never have that

Joe Torre is a great manager who happens to work for a jerk of an owner. But the team just didn't play well against a very good Tigers team. Joe will probably be sent packing but, and I am not a Yankee fan, thanks Joe for the spirit, heart and grace you bring to the game. The Hall of Fame is your next stop.

You Yankee fans still don't get it. The Yankees are just another team now. Deal with it. Pick the Tigers or the Athletics and sit back and watch what should be a good ALCS.

It's Torre's fault as much as anybody's. He switched to line-ups that didn't work (sitting Sheff and Giambi) and he let the Big Unit pitch (who's DONE, by the way). Nobody really stunk more than anybody else, really, it's on the players and Torre.

No, it's poor pitching and A-Rod's fault. The Yankees will win nothing as long as they have A-Rod.
