Last time I checked Answers international they put all English speaking countries together. That means U.S, Canada, U.K, Australia, and India.

Being an Indian, living in India, I would like to comment on your ques one by one.
1.Indian population is quite large, so here too it is reflected.
2.Only a few are in the USA, the huge majority live here, work here, sleep here and answer the Yahoo Questions at times here.
3.We Indians aren't very rich or struggling to make both ends meet. We shall look for opportunities, but will never occupy anything what is due to some one else.
4.Cast system works in another way, nothing to do with Yahoo Answers!
5.You will meet (if you can locate any one) lot of Sudras too in this field. They aren't inferior to anyone.

The Brahmins are more populated in Northen Indian States. Where as Information technology (IT) is a rapidly growing industry in South India whose main cities constitute some of India’s major IT hubs. So it's nothing to do with cast but to the opportunity of using skill in any field.
On example is Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (a Muslim from coatal areas of Southern India, Tamil Nadu), is the current President of India. A notable scientist and an engineer, he is often referred to as the Missile Man of India.

no not only brahmans.in fact brahmans are less comparing to
others.nowadays many people are learning computer related
studies even from the childhood.and English may be its a foreign
languge but Indians started to learn when british goverment
rulled India.at all the time people thought is to go foreign countires
and work.especially English speaking countries.in India getting
job is difficult because of population.and they have to show their
best in everything.so they are showing the best result in computers.and they are everywhere.

this is the indian site & thats why there are so many indians here. most of them are in india itself, some maybe in america or other countries too. some maybe excelling in computers programming as they would probably be dealing with computers or are studying computers. this has nothing to do with the caste system which was in india earlier. now there is no such distinction that only brahmins are the learned class. education is a birth right of all indians.
hope i have been able to satisfy some of your curiosity!

the world is full of chinese and indians. like someone said, few centuries down the line every person on earth is either going to be a chinese descent or an indian descent becoz of interracial marriages. but the chinese dont speak english, indians do. the first language in india is english so obviously everyone knows the language although we have varied accents owing to our regional backgrounds.
abt brahmans, long ago india was divided into castes according to their occupation. and brahmins being the highest caste had the opportunity to learn. It was their duty to acquire knowledge and perform religious rites. thus they continued to be the enlightened lot. but one cannot generalise abt intellectuality anymore.

hai richard,
indians have always been wise and honest people,ALWAYS but they were more religious and sober who were just happy with what they had.but now with globalisation the opportunities are unlimited and most of the youths get attracted to computers for their easy jobs in india & abroad, high salaries and other facilities. Not only brahmins but all other castes are doing extremely well with computers.Infact Microsft depends on indians as told by their founder Shri.Bill Gates.Indians are known for their hardwork, honesty, humbleness and sincerity & loyalty to their, country, ppl, employees wherever they are in the world.
nfact, caste system does not in any way help them.Brahmins are supposed to be brilliant but these with competition being hectic, nonbrahmins also are excelling in all fields.

It has nothing to do with being computer genius, they are just hardworking and strive to excell given a least opportunity.
There are more than 1 billion indians which is more than the entire population of Europe , so it is natural that you might find Indians everywhere.

Indians are very ambitious to rise above their present situation. It is something indeed related to the cast system, where upward mobility is virtually impossible. By excelling in things intellectual they are able to rise above societal prejudices and predestined social stations.
English opens the gates to excellence in many fields, of which IT is the most obvious.
Yahoo!Answers provides to Indians (and others) the opportunity to practice their English language skills and they are taking full advantage of it.
