I need to prepare a one minute monologue by the october 15th. Does anyone out there know how to prepare a one, and if so, would you please be kind enough to teach me.

just some approaches: choose a topic and develop a material that:

(1) expresses your ideas in a logical way, or;
(2) follows a "dialogue" pattern, as if you're threshing out an idea, its alternative arguments / positions / perspectives, until you arrive a conclusion or course of action, or;
(3) addresses an emotional turmoil, in a friend or in yourself;
(4) views both admirable and disparate traits, mannerisms, visible/observable characteristics in either an individual or a "class" of people, or;
(5) without necessarily being focused and logical, one that documents or simulates a "train of consciousness", just as our minds wanders unconsciously from one subject to another without any effort to be logical.

good luck!

For a first time, I would simply look at it as telling a story. Pick one incident from your life that was funny, impactful, or memorable in some way. Write it out- try to remember the details that give the story color. When you are practicing, speak as if you are telling the story to a specific friend. As you work on it, you can do a little polishing by taking out repetitive phrases or awkward wording. Again, I would just try to keep it simple and personal for this project. Hope it goes well.

Usually it's just easier to find a monologue rather than writing one. But if you have to actually write it then you want to have a main focus in this scene. You want to go through the other character that you are talking to rather than just telling a story. Make sure that they have something that you want, such as you want them to tell you they love you, you want them to kill your husband, you want them to make you dinner. This will give you a stronger monologue and make it so that when you deliver it there will be many levels of emotion and you can play through them rather than to them creating a depth in the scene. If you can learn to play through the character then you can have an awesome monologue. Good luck and have fun!!!
