If it is an obsession that could cause the obsessed person (or other people) harm, then the person should go to see a psychologist or psychiatrist. If it is a simple obsession like, opening a packet of chips the right way up (never upside down), then i'd just leave it the way it is. Unless of course you really want to get rid of the Obsession.

IS it an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or just a simple Obsession?

People need to be careful about making non-professional assertions that something is an obsession. One man's passion is another man's obsession.

If a person has a genuine, clinical, diagnosis of being obsessed with something that person would have to be helped by a psychiatrist.

If a person is just "obsessed" with something according to some non-professional's opinion that non-professional needs to stop obsessing over what someone else thinks or does and worry about his own issues.

ways? or good ways?

You can take the obsession away if its an object.
You can make them fear the obsession by having a screaming fit of rage every time they obsess.
You can help them understand the obsession in your perspective so that they realize how rediculous it is.
You can take them to a psychologist and pay for what you're trying to do for free here.

it depends on what kind...are they hurting themselves or other people? mine are usually creative, fun....right now i'm redecorating my house............and the big one?.....do they want to be helped? if so, encourage them to seek help for themselves.....offer support..things like that...they are responsible for themselves...
