"How's it going? I'm new here. I'm _______."

Be a wise co-worker newbie, and LISTEN! Let the "seniors" talk, and show THEIR true colors. Once you have heard from THEM, you will know better what YOU can or should say or talk about. The "seniors" will want to ruffle their feathers, and set the pace for you, and even dump crap work on you, take it in stride, and talk nice, using common sense, tact, and regard when responding!

Your being the "silent partner" will win you respect and regard before you know it, just by NOT being a know it all and letting the people already there keep their integrity intact! :)

Soap is so right on! And do not say , well where I used to work we did it this way, or that's dumb this is how we did it at my old job, or anything like those. People like that immediately went on my s**t list & suck a$$ list. And God help you if I was the one training you lol. Be cordial, be polite, but know your boundaries and know your place; you're the new kid on the block, rookie, green stick. Congrats on the new job and Good Luck :)

Typically a co-worker asks the new employee if she wants to join her (and others) for lunch. If that doesn't happen, ask someone where the best place is to buy lunch near the office.

while doing your work, the co workers will see that you are a hard worker, try to schedule breaks with them, and be friendly when you meet at the copy machine, water cooler, or when passing by your desk, look up and say hi or wave....they will look forward to knowing you......

Make small talk, DON'T gossip or try to impress, and be as diplomatic and open as possible. Chances are there's baggage in your new job that you don't know about yet, so try to be a fresh voice and catalyst there.

Observe, reserve your opinions. Be friendly, be interested in them (their work and personal). Ask questions relating to your job and how you can be more effective. Be helpful. Be humble.
