No, I have not, though I have cleaned a gun before.

I always find that suspect when I hear it. Firearms of all types are very common where I live and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knows to make sure it isn't loaded before handling it. I have always thought the accidental shooting thing was a thinly veiled attempt to give a scrap of dignity so someone who attempted suicide and survived.

i do no longer think of it quite is a hide up. i think of a trustworthy volume of human beings do have injuries while cleansing. in case you think of roughly it this way....The time while maximum folk sparkling their gun is solid as quickly as they have been taking pictures it on the variety or each and every time. They be sure to provide up taking pictures and positioned their gun back of their kit bag. Then get the gun out days later to scrub it, assuming that they emptied the chamber yet forgetting that they did no longer. As others have suggested, you may double, triple, quadruple examine each and every little thing you do. yet errors do get made. A month or so in the past I took a buddy from paintings taking pictures who had never used firearms formerly. We desperate to stop the handgun area of the variety and walk over to the rifle selection. while she replaced into finished, she surpassed me the gun (muzzle nonetheless downrange) and that i virtually positioned the gun away in my case without checking the chamber. on the final minute I caught myself and checked it and found a around interior the chamber. whether I hadn't of caught it, I nonetheless examine my weapons back as quickly as I get residing house and back formerly I sparkling. yet you will discover that it is achievable while you're careless.

almost as many people have been shot while cleaning unloaded guns as accidents with loaded guns - not me - I double and triple check any gun that comes into my hand regardless of the assurances of the person handing it to me. I insist on an open action before I accept it.
