The hymen is a thin membrane that partially blocks the opening to the vagina. The hymen can break for any number of reasons. It can separate by inserting a tampon, when the body is stretched strenuously, like in sports and horseback riding and sometimes it will tear for no apparent reason at all. While it is common for some slight bleeding and slight pain to accompany the separation of the hymen, many women experience the process without even noticing it. Even if your hymen breaks through other activities, you are still considered a virgin if you have not had sexual intercourse. While some people experience some discomfort during their first gyn exam, this generally does not result in tearing of the hymen.

Doctors agree that once you become sexually active, it is important to have a yearly gynecological exam. Some women need a gyn exam more frequently if they are experiencing problems with their menstrual cycles, have concerns about sexually transmitted diseases or think they may be pregnant. Just like doing anything you have not yet experienced, going to the gynecologist for the first time can be scary in some ways for just about everyone. But, rest assured there is nothing at all to be frightened of. Most doctors are sensitive to their patient’s medical and emotional needs and will do their best to make the patient feel comfortable. For detailed information on this topic, and particularly what to expect during your first visit have a look at our answer to Sexually Active and Wondering About a GYN. You can schedule this at your local teen health center. Most towns have centers that see teenagers for sexual health reasons without a parent's consent and on a reduced or no cost basis. We've been fooling around and I wanted to know if I can get pregnant if my hymen is still intact
Again, the answer is yes, IF the penis comes into contact with the labia/vaginal area, which can include the pubic hairs and upper thighs AND a drop or more of semen is deposited in that area.

How does pregnancy occur?
Penis/Vagina contact. Skin on skin. Simple as that. This includes any contact with the penis in the area between your legs. Women have gotten pregnant from the penis rubbing against the outer lips of the vagina without the penis entering into the vagina. Women get pregnant when the "withdrawal method" is used. Understand that it only takes one drop of semen to release thousands of sperm inside you. The guy may not even feel that drop escape, but if you use the withdrawal method (when the guy pulls his penis out of the vagina before ejaculating), if you use this method, don't be surprised if you find yourself pregnant, because the withdrawal method has a very high failure rate and is not a reliable or responsible method of birth control. So if a guy tells you he'll pull out, tell him to go to the store and buy some condoms or go take a cold shower! And of course women get pregnant from having sex, where the penis actually enters the vagina.

Many people are under the impression that the hymen is located within the vagina. It is not. It’s a mucous membrane that is part of the vulva, the external genital organs. It’s located outside the vagina. The hymen is a layer of tissue, just like the tissue around the opening of your vagina that partially conceals the vaginal orifice. You may or may not have one, most females do. The hymen is not an indicator of virginity; a girl is a virgin until she has been penetrated by a penis.

The hymen is named after the Greek God Hymenaeus - the God of marriage and weddings, FYI.

During the early stages of fetal development there is no opening into the vagina at all. The thin layer of tissue that conceals the vagina at this time usually divides incompletely prior to birth, forming the hymen. The size and shape of this opening (or openings) varies greatly from person to person.

Sometimes this formation of an opening does not occur, resulting in an imperforated hymen (it lacks the more common opening). Some females have no hymen at birth at all, since the tissue divided completely while they were still in the womb.

Many girls and teens tear or otherwise dilate their hymen while participating in sports like bicycling, horseback riding, gymnastics or inserting tampons, or while masturbating. A girl may not even know this has occurred, since there may be little or no blood or pain involved when this happens. The tissues of the vulva are generally very thin and delicate prior to puberty. The presence or absence of a hymen in no way indicates whether or not a female is a virgin. * You are a virgin until you have sexual intercourse.*

Some hymens are elastic enough to permit a penis to enter without tearing, or they tear only partially, and there is NO bleeding at all. When adequately lubricated the vagina is fairly 'flexible' and will stretch without discomfort for most women. Sometimes, a woman has sex for years with no real 'tearing' at all, only stretching of the hymen and then at another time the same woman might tear from 'rough sex' or sex with a different partner with a larger penis. Remnants of the hymen are usually still present until a woman delivers a baby vaginally. http://www.coolnurse.com/hymen.htm

Hope this helps..

Yes, because the pre ejaculate, or precome as you call it, contains LIVE SPERM- and all the guy has to do is drip it anywhere near your pubic or genital area, and there you are. If your bf had a white spot on his boxers, that was pre-ejaculate- and yes, you need to be concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. Sperm are tenacious, and they can survive being outside the body for up to 12 hours after ejaculation. They also can swim around clothing, particularly clothing which isn't positioned correctly. I would wait another day or two, and if you still see no sign of your period, then get another test kit. Make sure that you READ AND FOLLOW the directions on the kit VERY CAREFULLY- those kits only give incorrect answers when they are NOT USED PROPERLY. If you test negative again at this point, your late period is probably just due to stress. If not, however, you need to get yourself to a doctor and tell your parents about this as soon as possible, because both you and they have some big decisions to make. And if you should test negative, the next time you and your boyfriend decide to "play", make sure he WEARS A CONDOM !!!! One other thing- what your boyfriend told you about girls trying to ejaculate too is nonsense. Women experience orgasms, yes, but there is no such thing as female ejaculation, at least not according to what the doctors I work with have told me. They would have reason to know, don't you think?? Good luck.

IF any seminal fluid gets into the vaginal tract whether there has been penetration or not you CAN get pregnant. So IF you are pregnant and still a virgin you won't be a virgin much longer...

oh, yes. *virgin* births are quite common because people have erroneously believed that the penis must be inserted for the chance of PG. (this also goes for the *withdrawal* method) Sperm are pretty hardy and pretty darn active. Any girl who thinks they can't get PG from outside fooling around could be in for a pretty nasty shock 9 months later.

Yes! Any time a Penis and/or semen + Vagina is in close quarters, a woman runs the risk of pregnancy. Sperm can live for a little while outside the body, and my friend got pregnant by her boyfriend just ejaculating on her (Not directly on her vagina).

It's quite easy to become pregnant nowadays.

Yes.
Even if the man withdraws before he comes, some will have leaked out and into you.
If you and you man are fooling around and touching each other, there is still a chance that you could have sperm on your/his hands when you are being touched... sperm are tough little buggers... I would advise that as soon as anybody thinks about being sexually active, they should use protection, and keep it on them at all times... the old boyscout motto, you know, always be prepared!

I have heard of sperm getting "in" even if the penis isn't. If any fluid even gets near the opening, it is possible to get pregnant.

yes

sperm can remain in the penis after ejaculation. if inserted, the sperm can still travel into the vagina. If he doesn't insert his penis into you after that, the sperm does not have access to the vagina, you can not get pregnant. always use a condom, even if there is no intercourse. more diseases can be passed along without protection and without intercourse.

If his penis didn't penetrate you, NO. But if he ejaculated around or near that area, there is a possibility chance of pregnancy.
