I was granted a restraining order on someone I dated 3 years ago. He has repeatedly violated the restraining order, as he suffers from bi-polar disorder. He is violent and has escaped from mental hospitals before. The restraining order is up this March, is there such a thing as lifetime restraining orders in California? How would I go about getting one?
THanks

there is no lifetime restraining order. in California, restraining orders generally last as long as 3 yrs. if you would like to extend the RO fill out the documents on the links i am providing. ( you may print them out from a home computer or buy them at the courthouse) they are the California state judicial forms needed to renew your restraining order. you may want to attach a supporting declaration to your request. the more info given to the judge regarding why you feel threatened, the better it will be for you. i am also providing an info sheet for you. i highly suggest that you get assistance with your paperwork from a local domestic violence prevention agency. call your local court house so that they can provide you with a phone number.

Girl, document everytime he has tried to contact you and report him. As long as there is cause you can extend a restraining order (in many states). I have delt with someone bi-polar and it can get really bad, stay safe.

whether or no longer he harm you isn't the priority. the priority is that he violated a courtroom order. The courtroom won't condone that. they are going to probably amplify the restraining order, if no longer make it everlasting. He would get slightly detention center time so he can sit down and picture approximately himself.

no restraining order works. The only way to get rid of unwanted visitations/encounters is to shoot the bastard. Get a permit for the gun of course. Or get a big ferocious dog.

That would be up to the magistrate in the jurisdiction that you live in. Usually its best to go to Superior court to get those taylored to what you have in mind to protect yourself. Remember you go to the court to get one. The court will have a copy , then the Police will have a copy, and then you and him. once it has been surved
