Columns are supposed to be unbiased.

fhyre is right. Columns are regularly-appearing, topical articles containing the columnist's opinion. They are usually character-driven (think about Dave Barry or Ask Annie).

Editorials are (mostly) unsigned opinion articles relating to the news coverend in the paper. An editorial is thought of as the opinion of the newspaper, or more specifically, the opinion of the publisher.

A Column is a regulary occuring opinion/advice etc. article in a newspaper. An Editorial is specifically for the editor to write.

Editorials are based on the writers opinion and they are biased. Columns on the other hand should be unbiased and should follow the rules of APA stylebook. That means no opinion, just straight facts...you have to be careful with how you word these. Hope this helps!
