don't know how people can say Columbus discovered America when people were living here for thousands and thousands of years. That would be like me heading to Austrailia and saying I discovered a new land..lol. And for the record the Vikings made it to the Americas before Columbus.

I'm glad that Columbus screwed up and found this Continent.

some of my cousins that come from a indigenous heritage aren't so happy but let's face it , their ancestors were still living in the stone age and didn't even have the wheel , I think that Columbus finding America was a positive for the world.

The Vikings have been in Maine approximately 5 hundreds years in the previous Columbus landed in the Caribbeans. besides the undeniable fact that, we don't understand the chief of the Vikings, we do understand Columbus became the chief of his Portuguese day holiday. So we've a acceptance to place to the progression. That on my own is sturdy sufficient to declare a trip, Columbus Day.

Because of the misconeption, that he discovered America. But if you think about it, or at least about what the history books say about that man and his discovery, which he thought was America, was actually South America. I think, though, that a lot of us celeberate it because the goverment wants it to be observed, and the schools want it to be celebrated, too.
