I have a Toyota Corolla with 105K miles. It started one month ago in the morning: Once in a while the car would not start on first turn. Last week it started happening more often. lights are on and there is a faint click from the front.
Starter? Alternator or something else?

Must add: The car is being serviced regularly by the orig dealer.

My guess would be it's your starter.

Actually, that's a sort of educated guess. Though I know very little about cars in general, I had exactly the same problem years ago with my first car, which was a Nissan Sentra. It happened a few times, and it didn't bother me really until it got so bad it was hit or miss if my car would start at all. I actually had to do that start thing where someone pushes you and you pop the clutch and hope it starts. I hadn't told my husband about the problem, and he diagnosed it immediately as a starter problem, and that's exactly what it was. Apparently the clicking noise tipped him off.

The good news is that that particular part was very inexpensive, and it only took our mechanic a short time to fix it, so the cost was minimal.

common start problems are dead battery no gas bad starter in your case its the battery for sure have it changed when the car wants to start but it doesnt and then it gets even harder to start its the battery ispecialy if the lights are faint that means that there isnt enought energy in the battery have it replaced and then have your alternator checked to make sure that ur alternator it not making ur battery go dead if the battery was new then the alternater failed to charge the battery or u could have left somethig electrical on u could have your alternator checked at an aoutozone aouto parts store or u could buy an alterntor tester if the alternator is good the replaced battery will do and it will start again

Bad/Loose Battery Cables, Bad Battery, Excess Draw from Bad Starter, Bad Plug Wires, Etc.

Yea, what dale5of7 said. Replace the battery but also have the alternator checked out. Batteries don't usually go dead in a month, and if it happend gradually, it sounds like its not being charged by the alternator. (don't want to put a new battery in and have the same problem in a month)

Sounds like the battery's going low. Often there'll be enough juice in the battery to turn on the lights. but not enough to turn the starter over. In these cases, the starter solenoid will make a "clicking" sound.

It can be the Ignition cylinder or the spark plug wires(the spark plugs might be fine but if nothing is getting thru them hm..) Also move the cables from the battery to the starter sometimes thats why it wont start or just dirty battery terminals
