Well first of all you shouldnt keep her in A/C. It sounds like she may just have a little cold. If you keep her in the cold she may only get worse. Try to make sure that she is warm enough at all times and that she is also not overheated. You dont have to rush her to the hospital right away, not only will this cause unneeded doctor bills but it is also not needed unless she is running a fever or has broken out in a rash. If she does have a fever or a rash she may have had an allergic reaction to food or may even have the flu or something. In the morning if she is not better or has a fever or rash then give the doctor a call. Good luck.

well as the others suggested, talk to your doctor. Also keep a little diary of symptoms, when it happens, how it happens, how the baby is positioned, what she ate before she slept, etc. So the more info you can provide her doctor, the better help you can get..
Sounds like croop.. nighttime agrivates it, and it seems when once you pick up the child, the breathing gets better.. funny that croop. But also my neighbor had a baby that had those symptoms, turned out, she had a little flap between her esophagus and lungs that was weak and after giving her a bottle before sleeping, and laying the baby flat, the milk was washing back up her tubes and going into the breathing tube making that wheezing noice, just a simple reduction in milk and waiting 30min before putting her down and raising the head of the bed (putting a large pillow or blanket under the cot mattress on that end) helped.. but Id advise definately seeking medical advice from a profesional.. goodluck!

I am no doctor but I do know something about wheezing babies.
First: the baby may be dealing with a stuffy nose. Any sort of sickness, at this point, can cause a baby to wheeze. If you have one or are able to buy one, invest in an AIR DEHUMIDIFIER.
If the baby is having difficulty breathing because of allergies or sickness, taking your baby into a steamy room will clear everything right up. To test this theory, get the bathroom steamy or hot water in the kitchen sink. Allow the baby to breathe in the steamy vapors. Sit for 15 minutes with the baby in this room.
Take the baby out, lay the baby on her back, and if she continues to wheeze -- you can tell the DOCTOR that she is not congested.

I am not any kind of medical professional but I would take the baby to a doctor she might have (baby asthma) the doctors call it that because there is no way to diagnosis a small child with asthma. My daughter wheezes all the time and takes breathing treatments nightly I am not sure about the treatment for a 5 month old. The more complex diagnosis is compromised airways.

I would definetly set an appointment with the doctor. Wheezing is a sign of breathing distress. It means that something is wrong with the air passage of the baby. I could be something simple or it could be something more serious. But either way, the air ways are the way your baby gets enough oxygen to her system. I wouldn't want to take the risk when it is so easy to just get it checked and be sure. Good luck and good health.

Its not croup if she isnt coughing. Croup is a horrible raspy, deep, cough, that is hard to be controlled.
Wheezing is not a good thing, and in a baby of that age should be taken for a check up to the Doctor. Left untreated, could be a threat, especially if it is asthma.
In babies and small young children I always say its better to be safe than sorry, and have them checked by a doctor.
Asthma should be taken very seriously.

My Son had this problem too and the Doctor Diagnosed him with asthma. When she wheezes put her in the bathroom with the shower going so the mist gets into her lungs it will help open her airways. or if you arent afraid to give her just a tablespoon of warm coffee that will help open her airways too.
