Sometimes when I go to the grocery store and I have all those plastic bags, I could go to the car without a cart if I had a couple more fingers to hang bags on.

You know, that's the thing. Octopi have eight arms but no fingers. Just suckers. So no, 10 fingers are enough, but maybe throw in a few suckers for unscrewing peanut butter jars and such.
