This is a bad habit that you NEED to get out of. I do not know what your schedule is, but you know when you have time to do it. I HATED school when I was younger.
You know when you have time to do it. It is all that time you spend playing video games or watching tv. If you don't get your homework started early enough to get it done and get to bed at a decent time, you wake up tired and hating the world. And then you hate school more and you can't get yourself to do your homework... but you know you need to do it. Do you see the pattern?
YOU are the one that has to make the decision that getting homework done, getting to bed on time, getting excellent grades so you can go to college where the REALLY hot and smart chicks are... is more important than wasting the time that you can use to get your homework done.
I am betting that homework is basically pretty easy and it is a drag for you to do. You are probably not really interested in doing it. It tends to feel like a hoop you feel you have to jump through in order to keep your parents off your back. At least that is how I felt.
Look at it this way, no matter how smart you are or you think you are... where is the proof? The only way that teachers can give you good grades is through your tests and homework. If you don't do the homework, and you do bad on the tests, your teachers can just say that you did bad because you didn't do your homework. If you do well on the tests and you don't do the homework, it means you don't take direction well and your teachers and still lower your grade. Those grades and the comments of your teachers are what give colleges and future employers an idea of what you are worth. If you don't give them something to go on besides coming to class tired (because you stayed up late doing homework), having obviously hurried homework (because you had to hurry and get it done), and not participating in class... Would you hire or want that person on you team?
It is up to YOU to decide what is important. No matter what I or anyone else says on this subject, YOU are the one and only person who can make the difference and knows what motivates you.
Use what motivates you. Don't let yourself have ice cream until you get your homework done. Reward yourself with ice cream (I would recommend something different as to keep the pounds off:-) ). If you like playing video games, call it a reward after you get your homework done. YOU have to be the one to do it, and then you don't have to ask perfect strangers for help to get something you know you can get done yourself. Get what you need to get done so you aren't up late at night going "I should've started my homework sooner"... Go to bed thinking "Mmmm... extra sleep tonight"

If you are old enough to choose your courses, make sure you pick subjects you enjoy. If not just force yourself to do it at an earlier time. You will find that you will be happier because: -
a. The work is done, you can stop worrying about it.
b. The work will probably be of higher quality because your brain will be fresher.
c. When you put in the hard work and understand the subject better you will enjoy it more because you will not be behind the rest of the class. Good luck.

Buy a announcement board and set it up in your room write your MUST DO's
on it along with your short and long term goals.
Like 1. Math homework
2. History report etc..
Long term goals. Graduate
Get my Masters Degree
Get my PHD
Start my medical pratice
Hit your to do list as soon as you get home...then give yourself a reward each time you follow through. (something you really would enjoy manicure, a movie etc...)
Soon hitting the list will become second nature and you won't need the rewards.
I was in an accident many , many years ago and all I wanted to do was to do nothing...working my way back meant over 30 years of HARD work...my life as I knew it was over...what was it that made me
fight to live.????..it was viewing the life I wanted in my mind...I saw myself
walking again...I kept thinking of my life without pain...now over 30 years later
I am living, loving and being loved...SO picture yourself in the life your want to live...what will your life be like when you graduate? Each time you turn in homework you are taking a step toward your goal. To borrow a line from a movie BABY STEP toward your wonderful future. It all begins by the simple task of turning in your homework. All the best :o)

Break your homework up into sections and set short term goals. For example, if you have to read five chapters by Friday, read a chapter a day.
Maybe your parents can help you with rewards, like if you get your homework done before dinner you can go out for ice cream, play a game, take a family walk, etc.

that is exactly the same as me..... i procarastinate to the last minute.... even further than you i bet.... sometimes i go to the morning of the day its due or the lunch preiod before its due with the constant mentality that i still have time. i also spend tonees of time making up my excuse in the case that i don't finish in time and waste my time that way.... it has been because i used to have a good reputation and had high marks that teachers overlooked it.......
fail..... that is the only way i feel im going to do my work.... when i fall into a situation that i can't get out and get in big trouble for it then i might start doing my work... it worked for geography.... but for every other subject i still procrastinate...... when you get in big trouble, you might be persuaded to change your ways..... it really is the only way in my onpinion being in the exact same situation.....
you probably don't want to hear it but having someone ride you about it and get you in trouble is probably the only way you will change...... i still havent but in my opinion it is the only way i will
you have got to fall really hard..... getting away with leaving it to the last minute gives you confidence every time that you can get away with it, when you dont.......
just to get you started .... im busting you for not doing your work.... lol

I'm a senior and I'm 5th in my class, GPA of 4.559... and I still do my homework at 11:00 the night before it is due. Procrastination is a terrible habit. Get out of it if you can... as for me... I'll be up all night...

Offer yourself a reward ... like a big block of chocolate.. only to be eaten when finished (ask someone to mind it for you) the more you like chocolate the faster you'll finish it!!
