Everyone is to blame from the top down. Joe Torre was
getting praise for doing such a fine job, considering all
the injuries they had. The truth is in the playoffs, any team
can beat any team, as was the case with the Tigers beating
the Yankees, and the Athletics beating the Twins. The Yankees
losing isn't Torre's fault alone, everyone must shoulder the blame
and responsibility here. The fact is the Yankees had an incredible
regular season, despite their injuries, and the fact they have the
highest payroll in baseball.

I guess its hard to blame one person only as most people are saying that its A-Rod or Joe Torre but probably the whole team has to be blamed instead. Before the playoffs has started, the Yanks have played completely different kind of spirit compared to what they have showed during their series against the Tigers. In short, the whole Yanks have lost their heart during that time and congratulations to the Tigers.. Its really very disappointing because i am a very big Yankee fan here. I hope things could go well next season for the Yankees.

The Detroit Tigers. Why do you need to blame someone? Blame implies it would have been the Yankees if someone had not screwed up. The Tigers outhit, outpitched and outfielded the Yankees. That's how to win ball games. The Yankees weren't entitled to win. There is no blame, or they are all to blame.

BTW, it is a lot of fun to blame A-Rod. He did bat .071 in the ALDS, but it was not just him. And it was not Torre. He played with the tools available to him.

The Tigers' pitching staff. Others will point to A-Rod or Torre or Cashman but none of them was as important to the Yankees losing the series as the Tigers' pitching staff. With the all-world line up of the Yankees, it's incredible that the Tigers' pitchers kept the Yankees to 3 runs or less in 3 straight games.

Come On... but of course Alex Rodriguez is to blame and heres why...

A-Rod in the playoffs had eight plate appearances. He’s struck out in half of them. What about the other half? He was out in all but one attempt. He has one lone hit. Despite the Yankees scoring 11 runs , Alex Rodriguez doesn’t have one RBI. Did he have the chances? HELL YEAH HE DID So here’s the A-Rod breakdown.

Here’s what the Yankees are getting for $25 million so far.

Hitting: 1 for 8
Avg: .125
Strikeouts: 50% of the time
RBIs: 0
Walks: 0
Men left on base: 6 (3 per game)

In the game against the Tigers, the Yankees lost by one run. A-Rod didn’t have a single hit and didn’t get on base. He also struck out 3 of 4 times and left three men stranded. Should fans blame A-Rod for today’s loss? I THINK SO!... and I Rest my Case..

One, I blame George Stienbrenner for creting a payroll without a team. How there is any team spirit with him around is beyond me.

Two, I blame Yankee fans. Many are arrogant and are boo birds besides. Much was expected of A-Rod, to be sure, but fans never cut him any slack trying to adjust.

Three, I blame A-Rod. He is the poster child for underachievement, replacing Darryl Strawberry. I give him credit for recognizing that he has himself to blame for his poor performance. A class player might blow up in the face of the kind of treatment A-Rod received (Ted Williams did), but would never fall apart the way A-Rod did.

Four, I blame weak pitching. Rivera can't dominate if you don't give him a lead to work with. Some of this is age, but there is a lack of quality pitching all over the major leagues right now.

I don't blame Joe Torre, another class act who has to put up with both Steinbrenner and the unrealistic expectations occasioned by the huge payroll, and I don't blame any of the Yankees who tried their best to win. It is not their fault that the Tigers outplayed them.

Not any one individual that's for sure.

This was a collective effort amongst several players and some undersight by the Yankees not to address the lack of quality pitching needed to win in the playoffs.

You can not blame one person. The whole organization is too blame. First off, yes they have a ton of talent, but maybe too much talent. Also, The players don't play as a team.

The team was not prepared to play against the Tigers. The WHOLE team had a lost look in their eyes. But I guess you start at the top with Torre.
