On a FWD vehicle the #1 plug for a 2.8 V6 is on the Passenger side front closest to the radiator.

this is how u determin the location of ur #1 plug:
the closest to the timing. since it is chain driven, the chain housing is our timing here. ok? that is on the passanger side on that engine. If i'm wrong, check where the accesory belt runs. there will u have ur timing as well. (same side). now u have two options: front bank, or rear bank? again the rule: closest to the timing! only one there is!eithr front bank, or rear bank.
good luck finding it.
ps.: other method: original spark plug cables have nubers on them. Or u could try and see the coil pack (the other end of them cables). They should have markings on them as well.

All above is true except for ford where there is no logic. All 60 degree (2.8 and 3.1 and 3.4) GM's are numbered opposite the traditional GM way.

always look at ur two heads the one will stick out closer to the front of the engine first plug on that head is ur #1 plug
