Discovered in 1790 by Adair Crawford and William Cruikshank in Scotland, and obtained as a metal by sir Humphry Davy in 1807 in London by electrolysis.

Sir Davy started his metal preparation work in 1807 with the alkali metals Sodium and Potassium. Strontium was one of the first alkaline earth metals to be done (believed to be accomplished in 1807, but not published until 1808 when he completed the series).

"Adair Crawford recognized the mineral strontianite, named after the Scottish village of Strontian, as differing from other barium minerals in 1790. Strontium itself was discovered in 1798 and metallic strontium was first isolated by Sir Humphry Davy in 1808 using electrolysis."

ps-Strontium is atomic number 38. Typically, the notation Strontium-38 would mean an isotope of strontium (and it's going to be closer to 88 for an isotope).
