blink 182 - not really punk, but they've kinda got the whiny emo thing going, but most real emo music is based on acoustic guitars, not electrics with effects.
flyleaf is a hard one to nail down, i'd call them "modern metal" i guess. no solos, which will end up being dated to the mid 90's to mid 00's in the long term.
and hawthorne heights isnt hardcore, so if they're calling themselves that, yeah, they're posers. i'd call them "rich spoiled white kid poser hardcore" i think. all the kids i know that like them arent realy into real hardcore, and they're typically the type that have nothing to be mad about.
