I say "daily," but I know someone who disagrees and won't believe "opinions." He needs "concrete reasons" to change his underwear every day. Please help! Cite sources if possible, the closer to being "scientific" or based on facts, the better! I keep telling him that it is just standard personal hygiene, and that most people would agree with me, but he thinks that means nothing because it is an "opnion."

Changing Underwear

2017-01-02 11:33:16 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Well, this is really a matter of personal preference and what you feel comfortable with.

Some people wear them for one day, then turn them back to front and use them for another day. An extension of this technique is to then turn them inside out and get a third and fourth day out of them.

Other people are guided by color. When a yellow patch on the front or a brown patch on the back can be clearly seen, it is time for a fresh pair.

Many people don't consider it an issue to waste too much time and energy on. A widely used rule of thumb among college students, especially during exam times, is to throw your briefs at your bedroom wall every night. When they eventually stick to the wall, you can change them.

Normally, however, the question only needs to be addressed when it begins to interfere with your normal daily activity. Personally, when I find that I can no longer get my "cacks" off without the use of welding equipment, I convince myself that it's time for a change.

I hope this is of help to the wider public. Everything else is just propaganda spread by underwear manufacturers.

Daily, but as someone who suffers from eczema, taking a daily shower dries my skin out too much. Change your undies when you get dressed and when you put on your Pjs. If for some reason you're not able to change it twice, change it once and then change it as soon as you can. It's not opinion, it's personal hygiene.

Not been in the dating game for quite a while and glad of it in some ways because it can be more hassle than it is worth. This is only caused by the other person not being 100% honest so will give it a miss but good luck to all those that are in love.

Definately daily...or if i work out or do anything where i sweat i change, and of course after i take a shower (even if i changed a few hours before) i change then too.
It is personal hygeine. The human body secretes stuff whether its realized or noticed or not. Wearing underwear, the secretions (make OR female) can collect and cause bacteria to form, smells, and all sorts of stuff (yeast infections in women as well). Sorry to be so gross but i assumed it was a comment sense type thing, and if someone needs to be convinced that its supposed to be done daily, then i dont see any other reason to go about it. I hope you convince your friend, thats pretty gross.

If you do not change your underwear daily you increase your levels of infection and also can clog the pores of the skin in that area with too much build up of bacteria. For sanitrary reasons, if you have any feces on your underwear and it travels down to other parts of your body that can cause a serious infection. So moral of the story. Tell him his manhood will fall off if he doesn't change is britches daily. (And the fact that he will never get a girlfriend)

Body odour

The body has nearly two million sweat glands. These glands produce three quarts to one pint of sweat in a day. In tropical countries, naturally, more sweat is produced. The perspiration level increases with an increase in physical exertion or nervous tension.

Fresh perspiration, when allowed to evaporate does not cause body odour. An offensive smell is caused when bacteria that are present on the skin get to work on the sweat and decompose it. This is specially so in the groin, underarms, feet or in clothing that has absorbed sweat. Diet influences the odour too.

Two baths a day, with liberal lathering and change of clothes in close contact with the body should take care of the problem. Talcum powders, of the non medicated kind, can be used under the armpits. Deodorants or antiperspirants can be used. Most commercial skin deodorants contain an antiperspirant, such as aluminum chloride, which reduces sweating by forming a hydroxide gel in the sweat ducts. But sweat suppressed in one area, comes out in another. The addition of perfumes masks the odour.

Deodorant soaps do not interfere with sweat secretion, but contain hexachlorophene which destroys the bacteria that causes body odour.

If daily cleanliness routines do not reduce body odour, check with a doctor.

Change your underclothes every time you shower or bathe. No need to get clean if you put on already worn underclothes. YUK! A daily shower is needed for hygiene purposes so clean undies daily is a must.
