Quite frankly, companies don't want to hear about your invention. They have their own product development departments. Most outside people usually come up with pretty bad ideas.

I am a small business counselor and have had to stop myself from laughing a few times at what people thought were great ideas. I am not saying you are not on to something, but it is simply not worth the companies time to see everyone that wants to see them about a product.

You need to see a patent attorney to protect your ideas. However, patent attorneys can be expensive so you need adequate market research to ensure you have something that will actually be useful and sell.

If you want free, confidential, trustworthy counseling look in the phone book for:
SCORE
-or-
Small Business Development Center (at a big universities Business School)

They can point you in the right direction.

Maybe you can take your idea and run with it on your own. It will be hard but it might end up being fun and fulfilling.

Until you PAY to have it patented by an agency, the idea is anyones. You may not want to talk to them until you can protect your idea and have it patented, cuz if you pay and protect your idea (get a patent), it legally becomes your property, and no one can copy it until you sign something that releases it to them... and this is where big money gets paid to you to sell it to them...

You aren't the only one in the world who has had an invention or idea before. I've heard of inventions and ideas ruining some peoples family lives and jobs because they pursue it... There is no quick and easy way for you.

Ask them to work with you before you give them the secret and get it in writing.
