Of course they're not talking about letting kids smoke. This amendment was proposed by SAFAR, the Safer Alternative for Adult Recreation. Their thinking is that marijuana is a safer alternative to alchohol. What do you think?

I'll be voting for it. Possession of small amounts of marijuana is not something that should be taking up time among law enforcement and judicial officials.

Colorado already has minimum fines for pot possession and there have been no problems with that. This is a good next step. I have a personal stake in marijuana decriminalization, because of an illness that I have. I'm really tired of being addicted to pain meds, even my doctor told me privately he wishes he could prescribe pot for me, it wouldn't be destroying my liver the way the other meds are.

It's much safer for consumption than alcohol, in many ways. How many people do you know that have become violent or abusive after they smoke a joint? I know some folks think that two wrongs don't make a right. But really, let's be realistic, people are going to pursue recreational substances no matter how much more "upright" it is to just stay sober. I'm 50 years old, and in my generation I know more regular folks (some people would be shocked how many) that smoke pot than drink alcohol. For so many in my generation it's like coming home and making a cocktail to unwind after work. I didn't know this was happening, thanks for bringing it up, I'll have to keep track of what happens.

I think it's a great idea. Alcohol makes people crazy...pot makes people lazy... You can still be a fully functioning member of society and smoke pot. I know many well-to-do people who smoke pot all the time and it doesn't affect their professional or personal lives. I think Colorado deserves a giant thumbs up.

I think I want to move to Colorado!! KIDDING!!! Well, I'm not a teen!! Yeah, but, you know how they say that marijuana is the "gateway" drug! This doesn't sound like an option to me! I don't want my teens smoking weed just because I don't want them drinking!! That is ridiculous!!!
