indescribably, undefinably, inscrutably and constantly alive and expectant. and just as easily hurt.

It goes beyond words. Really can you think of any emotion that can correctly be represented by words alone? Words only serve to give some vague intstruction to people. Emotions are only communicated when one person recalls within themselves the feelings of an emotion that theyve already had. The person trying to communicate the emotion only helps to stir back up the feelings of the emotion in the person hes communicating too. This is the way I look at it. Words don't and can't communicate any emotions. You cannot explain sadness to someone who has never been sad, your words can only help someone remember sadness they have felt in their own lives and thus they then understand the emotion that you are trying to convey to them.
Now if you look at communication of emotions in this way, it seems almost twice as impossible to communicate the feeling of romantic love to someone who has never felt it because it is one of the most complex and mysterious feelings. But, like someone else has already mentioned, I'm sure you'll know when you feel it for the first time.

I think we must like someone before we love them. When I met my husband
I remember getting "butterflies" in my stomach when I would see him coming.
I was really shy in front of him and felt as though I had my foot in my mouth all the time and I kept sweating out of embarrassment. I think being in love with someone means you would rather be with them than anyone else. That doesn't mean them only but can you picture yourself with others romantically?
When you need help would you call this person? If you needed advise would you call them? When you think about going anywhere is this the person you would want with you?
When you love someone...REALLY love someone you remember those words you spoke long ago...for richer for poorer, for better for worse, in sickness and in health to death do us part. Now THAT is LOVE.
But now 33 years later I am more in love than ever...we have been together through many many things...health problems for 30 years, financial problems most of our lives together, marital problems when we first got married. But through it all we were blessed with each other. Now, we are so happy and I still get "butterflies" when I see him. I smile whenever I see him.

I have no idea. I still ponder that myself but I imagine it will be like you can't see your life without that person if it is love but like is all physical motions. Not sex! I am talking about things like chills when you see them or you feel a blush coming on or just the awareness of that person even efore you see them.

When i knew that i was in love with my [now] husband, i only wanted to be with him. He made me feel secure and loved. It is really hard to describe unless you have been in love but when you are, there are no more doubts.

Like you've just been suckerpunched but you can't stop smiling.
Like it's Christmas morning & everything you wanted is under the tree. Like your heart is so big it's going to explode. Like you want to laugh and cry all at once.
It feels something like that...

Much much more, but you'll know in your own heart if it's love that you're feeling. :-)

You can't stop thinking about them, your heart beats fast when they call you or they come see you, and you get angry or hurt when that person lets you down. I am at the point of obsession. Its crazy.

If the thought of never being able to see that person again makes you sick to your stomach, then it is love.
