I am 18 and not sexually active as in, no intercourse (just a lot of foreplay with my boyfriend and oral sex) should I go to the gyno anyway for my exam? I'm really nervous, how old were you when you first went?

I was 19 and not sexually active. I went because I was having some problems with my cycle.

Ok just for the record if you are having oral sex..... flash news you are sexually active not having intercourse is just one thing about being sexually active.... and about the gyno question you should go once a year after you start your menstruation....and if you are doing foreplay and oral sex is not a bad idea go with the doctor and tell all that so he may give you some contraceptives just in case

18 is when most people first go. Some people go even if they are not sexually active just to get a check up down there, and make sure everything is alright. However, if you are sexually active i think you should want to go even more to get your body checked out to make sure you dont have an STD or anything.

The general rule is at age 18 and/or when you become sexually active. It's not the funnest thing you'll ever do, but it's relatively fast...and if your doctor is male, there is a female nurse present. You can always take a trusted friend with you, and go for cheesecake after wards....it's pretty important to your health to stay screened for disease and such. I was 17.

18, I was sexually active, but you need to go anyways. It's very important to make sure everything is in good health down there. It is recommended that women go once a year regardless of there sexual stance. Its just like going to the dentist or the doctor for a check up. no ne wants to but its important that you do.

i was 18 the first time i went !! If you feel like something is not right and just to be safe you should go!! At first i was nervous as hell...but ehh..its not that bad ..just kinda awkward!! lol ...If you dont feel like anythings wrong with you than dont!! Your suppose to see one everyear once your sexually active and to check if you dont have any type of cancer...but like i said ..follow you gut instinct!!! p.s. the day after i went to see the gyno for the first time ...he showed up with his family at this resturant i work at...and i was his waitress!!!! awkward as hell!!

15, i had to go to planned parenthood because i needed to get birth control pills and my mom wouldn't take me to her gyn doctor. she said if i was old enough to have sex than i am old enough to find a doctor and pay for it myself....
it worked though, never got pregnant :)
