White smoke is steam, black smoke is oil .Front driver side is usually radiator hoses or cap. Must be an older car. Do not attempt to open if the engine is hot, the steam will burn you. Bring to a mechanic, they will know what to do.

most likely an oil leak. The white smoke is oil burning off on the hot engine, most likely the exhaust manifold.

I would guess the leak is probably coming from a bad valve cover gasket.

Be sure this is smoke and not steam. Steam means a leak in the cooling system.

it could be a number of things, firstly check to see that you havent got any leaks around your radiator ( could just be steam) secondly make sure your engine is clean as any oil on the engine will smoke when it gets hot enough or it could be your oil levels in the car are too high, if all that is done it could be that you dont really want to know.

oil leaking out of the engine onto the exhaust that will smoke but if i were you id take it to a mechanic because if you have to shell out 300 dollars now to get a mechanic to look at it itll be alot better than having to replace the engine if it blows up

sounds like coolant you might have a bad head gasket or one ready to go out.better get it checked out asap. a shop has tools to find out for sure. I do know if your head gasket goes out you run the risk of "Cracking" the heads, and maybe even the block
if it was oil it would be kinda of a blueish or gray smoke.and the smell of burning something awful.

ur coolant system might have a leak that drips on something hot. Exhaust system for example. Get it checked out with an expert as soon as possible, it could lead to a bigger damage that might damage ur engine. If it runs out of coolant it is.
good luck with it.
Otherwise it's something else that drips on a hot surface.

it could be one of your hoses gone bad. keep and eye on your hot/cold indicator.. if it's past the 1/2 mark, take your car to the shop, before you cause damage.
