same conclusion via different route. If there are n diagonals drawn, that means (n+1) triangles are created. That in turns means there [(n+1) + 2] = (n+3) sides to the polygon.

So if n = 6, (n+3) = 9 and that is a nonagon.

It's a nonagon . You can see this by drawing several polygons and drawing diagonals. If you do this you will notice that from any vertex of any regular polygon the are three vertexes you cannot draw a diagonal to --itself, and the two vertexes next to the one you are drawing from . If you can draw 6 diagonals, add three and the polygon is nine sided or a nonagon.

A nonagon - 9 sided polygon.

In order for there to be 6 diagonals, there needs to be 6 points that are not already directly connected the the starting point. Plus there are the two points that are directly connected to the starting point, and the starting point itself for a grand total of 9 points, and hence 9 sides. The two directly connected points are part of the polygon and thus are not diagonals.

leaving the 2 adjacent points(cos lines with them forms sides of the polygon) we need six more points to draw diagonals.
now we have nine points altogether so its a nanogon
