The odds are heavily stacked against Shumacher in the last race of the F1 season in Brazil. He has to win, and Alonso has to finish out of the points. Anything can happen. Mechanical failure or crashes could take either one of them out of the points. It will be interesting to watch.

You have to remember, no one thought the Japanese race would turn out the way it did, with the big swing in points. As for Shumachers chances in Brazil, I think they are 50-50.

By the way, I have a great deal of respect for Schumachers driving skills, but I do not necessarily root for him. I tend to root for manufacturers. I have been a Ferrari fan for as long as I can remember. Runner up is the McLaren team. Renault, no way.

He has a fantastic chance to win the last race. Its a two way contest all the way. I rate his chance to win as 40% same for Alonso. The rest make the remaining 20%.

But its too bad that it is almost impossible for him to win the championship even if he wins the race because Alonso requires only 1 point. But one never knows...

But it is a very important race for Schumi to win not only because it is his last race but also he would go to 92 wins which will be the combined tally of Alain Prost and Ayton Senna who are 2nd and 3rd.

I think alluwanted has not read the question properly. The question is what is his chance of winning the last race not the championship.

Almost nil
He can not win. He already said, it is impossible.
He has 116 point against Alonso's 126.
Even if Shumi wins the last race, he will get 126. Then Alonso shall fail to complete the race. All Alonso needs is one single point !!

Shumi said, it is like a walk in the park for Alonso now to get just one point.

Shumi is a great fighter and that is what made him and F1 so interesting.

Without Shumi, there is no thrill. I loved Montoya as he had good aggressive attitude. No one else is any close in temperment and emotions like Shumi. We all miss thouse jumping and pumping fist of Shumi on the podium.

He is a legend. His retirement is sad, but, he has to go one day. Though he is not able to become the champion this year, he is going out in style.

All the best for Shumi and his fans.

We all have to look for another hero on F1 circuit, whish is going to be tough.

I would say that his chances are probably better than usual, because Alonso will not be trying anything silly.
If Alonso is in front of Massa, and Fisichella is close behind, then Alonso has no reason to attack Scumacher, Because both the Driver's and Manufacturer's Championships will be in the bag, therefore increasing Schumacher's chances of a win.

Well, I do not feel it is so much of a pity. He won many Championships and that makes his a really good one. But we shall see Alonso's record when he reaches Michael's age.

My sympathies are with Alonso because when he wins he does it modestly and he has not played dirty a single time yet. Michael cannot say the same.
It was about time to give way to new F1's generations.

Michael Schumacher will defintly not race lower back. If he became to make a return he could be too previous. (hes at present 38 years previous). he will probably stay as a tester yet not a race motive force. yet something ought to take place. while Niki Lauda desperate to retire in 1979. He desperate to make a comeback in 1982 and won the championship in 1984.

Whether or not Michael Schumacher can win the season finale at the Interlagos circuit at Sao Paulo, will depend largely on the upcoming test session at Jerez, Spain., and if Ferrari can isolate and resolve the engine problem that took him out of the Japanese Grand Prix.

the way he was running, he has a good chance. I'm sorry he's retiring too, it's going to be so boring I may not watch it anymore. He was the only reason I watched F1 :(

about 30%...

He had to retired one day or another, and besides, he's leaving at the top of his game! Can't get better than that!
