Everyone uses all of their brain unless they have brain damage. The idea that we only use 10% of our brains is an urban myth.

People are lazy and don't take the effort to think because it's too much work. Take this question for example. It's been a whole three days since it's been asked and you, like all the others before, didn't take a few seconds to search for the answer yourself.

The ability of humans to delude themselves is tremendous. There must be some comforting value in believing that one is capable of much more if only one could tap some hidden reserve of brain power accessible only to geniuses or psychics.

If one would take the time to think, it becomes obvious that these claims are bogus. For example, Einstein died in 1955, way before brain scans were invented (PET, fMRI) so how could anyone know about his brain activity?

No, I take it back. People don’t use even 1% of their intellectual capacity. It’s easier to believe urban legends and crap on the internet than it is to think for yourself.

We do not need to use more then a percentage of our brain.Suppose a part of your brain gets damaged:it is likely that other parts so far unused take over the function. In some cases like a haemorrhage it does not work.Sadly fot those who suffered from one.

most of our brain is in use most of the time. the 10% thing is utterly bogus and made up by motivational speakers and self help book authors. Just keep thinking, doing puzzles, reading, writing, playing music, listening to music, running, skipping, jumping, dancing and playing jokes on freinds. Those are the best ways to develop your brain

It's a rumor that we only use a small percentage of our brain. We use almost all of it for different functions.

It is important to note that when people say you use very little of you brain, they mean you use very little of you brain at one point in time.

You use most, if not all, your brain throughout the day. Only a small percent is electrically active at one point in time.

Our brain may be like computer RAM.
It is used full string upon necessity and we dont realize.
But sciencists and inventors are to be credited
while most of us are lazy and concentrating just
our personal matters.

WE use all of are brain; not all at once though. Your question is analogous to asking " why do we only use a very small percentage of our intestines ".
