Somewhere I read that a Russian scientist has predicted an asteroid hitting by the end of this month (october 06), any concern over this?

To add something else to this, the Russian scientist is Nikolay Fedorovsky.

Sorry, but the only thing less credible than something that starts with
"Somewhere I read ..."
is something that starts with
"Somewhere I read that a Russian scientist has predicted ..."

Not that I don't respect Russian scientists ... but when an American cites some unnamed Russian scientist that they "read somewhere" ... it has an unmistakable air of bogosity.

No. The closest asteroid that could possibly hit us won't be till about 2029...that is, it will pass close enough to us that when it passes by us again in 2036 there is a definite chance it could hit...but not at all this year?

Where did you hear this from?

Yes, every time you read about the end of the earth, even if the dates conflict, you should believe every word of it....

I think if it was really going to happen the message would be more widespread. Since it's not it most likely won't happen.
