I get things done, but only in the last minute. Some people have said that this is a positive quality and others have told me it shows that i'm lazy (which I don't think is true!). What do you all think, and are any of you big time procrastinators?

Mainly talking about school work.

I've been thinking about joining a procrastinator's support group. I'll get around to it one of these days.
But seriously, I can relate.
I'm a procrastinator myself. It may be a learned habit or my brain may just be wired that way. I was one of those high school students who turned in term papers right on the due date.
If it causes you to miss important deadlines, then it could be a real problem.
On the other hand, some people perform better under pressure. Facing a deadline, for example. Procrastinators also tend to put more thought into what they do. So, it's not always a bad thing. That's how I look at it.

I'm a freshman in high school and I procrastinate ALL the time. In fact I have a Biology project to do, a book to finish reading, tests to study for, and a bunch of other crap. Procrastination is okay as long as you get your work done and your life isn't affected too much by it. If you're procrastinating to the point where your grades are dropping severely you need to start getting serious. In my opinion, procrastination can be a good thing, because I end up doing my work faster. It is normal to procrastinate and everyone does it, but some people do it to a lesser extent. Procrastination is not ENTIRELY the same thing as laziness. Just because you procrastinate doesn't mean you don't work hard.

Just lethargy... A person has to get the feel of "how to enjoy doing something" ! Once we experience the joy of involvement in work (any work, and irrespective of the results), then such person does not have this procrastination problems.... very few such persons ! But very much possible to get that as a sort of habit !
Easy way is to pick the jobs you like to do very much and keep doing it one after the other, especially when you are tired, just to over come the mind !
Difficult way, but lasting results, pick the most dull, easy, & repetitive job and keep doing it, saying to yourself 'just for a little while more "... till the mind seems to offer no more resistance. Such tricks seem to work on oneself to get rid of the lethargy.

I procrastinate all the time!! And it drives me insane. The times I do things on time (school work)...I feel so good about it. But I find it very hard to do everything all the time "on time". I'm getting better at it though. I've had this problem for so long. My problem is that I have anxiety. And the anxiety doesnt allow me to start things. I'm constantly worrying...what if what I do is not right. But now I think to myself: WHO CARES!!! Just do SOMETHING!!! Thinking this way has helped me a bit. I think the best advice I can give you is...just start doing whatever you have to do. Just start.
And its not a lazy issue.
I hope I've helped a bit :)

A lot of times we procrastinate either because we are afraid of something we haven't tried before. Or because
we are afraid of failing. And "sometimes," it's because we've just gotten in the habbit of "doing" things at the last minute, and it doesn't back fire until that "something" took more time than we figured it would! All of us do this, just some more than others. Okay?

My first instinct was to say "I'm not sure, I'll get back to you tomorrow" heh.. But in regards to schoolwork I was the same way. And it worked out just fine, some people just work better under the pressure of a deadline :)

Let me get back to you on that one. I'll think about it when I go outside for a smoke.
