behind the front bumper cover on my 95 del sol, on the passenger side, is a tank for holding some kind of liquid. not quite sure what it is other than its empty. it doesnt have an opening at the top under the hood or anything like that. any ideas?

it is your air intake's resonator, it make the incoming air quieter.

a tank that has no content, nor opening on a car behind a fender must be either a charchoal canister that holds gasoline fumes for emission control purposes, or a vacuum surge tank that holds vacuum for either your temperature controll system or for anything else for engine supplement. If it has no cap, or cannot open it, do not worry, u are not supposed to try and open it or fill it with anything. In your detalis you were not clear if the tank is or is not empty. I'm sure it is not a windshield washer tank tho.

am not sure, but I have a van whose water tank used for windshield washing is located at the passenger side inside the cab but not on the front bumper.

id have to say its for vacuum with out knowing more what color is the tank is there any hoses that hook to it and so on
