Diesel fuel is a by product of the production of gasoline, and therefore should be almost 30% cheaper than gas
The reason it is high is price gouging

Yes diesel is cheaper fuel then gasoline, back before the price went sky high, When you travel down the highways and Inter-state highways Just count the number of Trucks out there. Each truck has at less 250 gallon's of fuel on one side of there truck, most from two, one on each side. so that's 500 gallons of fuel. ok, now look at all the Bus's on the road, they all run on diesel also. Ok let's just start out with School Bus's... Count them..Now count the number of Travel Bus's out there also. They all use diesel fuel also. and most of them carry around 230 gallons per Bus...and travel alot miles also along with trucker's Plus on top of that they get Taxed for every state they drive thou whether they buy fuel there or not. So now the fuel bill is coming down for us at the gasoline pumps right, But guess what the cost of your food is up, along with products that you may buy, In the store, and guess why.. Because they all come by trucks. Yes it looks good because the fuel cost is down, but not for the trucker or the travel bus company's out there. I'm not sure where you live, and it don't make a differences. But this last summer, the watermelon that cost $2.00 dollars last year cost $8.00 dollars this year. the sweet corn that cost 12 ears for a dollar last year this year $3.00 for 6. The bottom line is. The fuel is down for are car's. but the food price is on a up rise because of the diesel cost. So we are in a catch 22 here. And I bet you never thought of that. And if you did, Good job. And many of us don't really think about how the food get's to the stores or Super Market's It's all trucked in there. many companys paid per mile for the driver. and so much for the load of the truck, and then it must pay for fuel tax, and then the fuel it's self. Ok so I went the extra mile to tell you this, and all that reads this. Lets all hope to have the fuel cost down for the truck driver's and the School bus's and the travel bus's.... That's my point... Good Luck

diesel was originaly invented as a byproduct of gas. it was a mixture of gas and oil, it was cheaper,at the time, and protected of fuel from being overused. however just like gas desiel is fluctuating in price. although it protects our limited fuel supply, because the price of gas and oil go up, so does the price in desiel.
