I've never seen animals cry. But I know they are capable of feeling remorse. Is crying an emotion only humans exhibit?

Interesting question.
I think science says animals don't cry, but I have a Pomeranian whose eyes water when he is unhappy. It never happens unless he is being punished for something or gets left behind when we go on a trip.

He was bred to be a show dog, but he was given to us because his eyes ran to the point of staining his face. I guess that disqualifies them in a show... I think the previous owner must have been mean to him because she is the only person he has ever tried to attack when she came to visit. I suspect he was just miserable since the constant tearing stopped soon after he came to live with us!
