If you think you are pregnant, and your late on your period then go to the doctor whenever your ready, The doctors are all different but will normally ask for a urine test to test in the room while your there and also send you for a blood test to be certain and this can also detected other things, Some doctors will do an internal as the colour of your cervix changes when pregnant, it goes from pink to purple but not many doctors test this way. If you have any symptoms like morning sickness then tell your doctor because you can be given a drug called maxalon to help ease the nausea.

Good luck and hope the doctor tells you what you want to hear.

Usually your OB won't make an appointment for you until you are 8 weeks along or until you miss 2 periods. In some cases, the doctor will see you sooner.

My very first visit I saw the Nurse Practitioner/Midwife and she talked about all the family planning things and gave me a whole bunch of information to take home, including the pregnancy bible in my opinion "What to Expect When Your Expecting". She wrote me a prescription for prenatal vitamins and talked about the first trimester tests that they can do to test for things such as Cystic Fibrosis, Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18 and 13, etc. I also had all the blood tests, to confirm pregnancy and check for HIV/AIDS(required in my state with all pregnancies)and other diseases carried in blood and immunity to certain diseases that could be hazardous if you would catch it during pregnancy. It lasted about an hour and a half just asking questions about medical history and talking about having the baby in general. My next visit, which was the next week, I had my first exam of pregnancy. I saw my doctor and talked to him about what to expect, got the results from my blood tests and discussed those results too. It didn't last as long as my first appointment, but we covered everything before I saw the doctor.

Schedule a appoinment as soon as possible, some saught after Ob's keep new patients on a wainting list, my advice don't wait! PreNatal care is very important to get as soon as possible. Most OBs to a vaginal exam, some do a pap. They will chart your estimated due date & answer most questions or concerns. Give you a script for a prenatal vitamin & talk about your medical & family history your hubby should be there they will also want to know his family history. Some Obs also send you for a ultrasound to get the most acurate dating for the due date & you will have the first of many lab work ups (blood). Good Luck, make a list of questions & concerns & it is a good idea to take a small note book & pen to jot down notes, after hours phone #'s, etc. Good Luck!

Well don't worry at all. You should call your OB and schedule a meet with him ASAP. He might ask you to do a home preg test and a blood test before you do to meet him/her. The blood test will confirm if you are really pregnant.

On your bisit to the OB he might do a internal examination. Post which he will give you a list of things to do and what not to do.

He will advice you what to eat and what not to eat. He will check your BP. Will give you a scheldue of appointments for the next 9 months. And advise you on frequency and positions of sex if indulged with your husband. all n all its a "GYAN" session for he first time where you get to learn and know a lot of things. I found it very very interesting.

Oops, he will also tell you some tablets which you have to have. They are basically folic acid and calcium tabs which are supposed to be healthy for your babies developmpment.

Very soon you will be asked to do a sonography. its gonna be a awesome feeling seeing your baby (size of a bean) for the first time.

well all the best for your meeting. and donot worry at all..

Just call and they will probably make you wait about 6-8 weeks along. They will make you fill out tons of paperwork so have your records or sharp memory handy. Its important for them to know your medical history.

Weight, blood pressure, urine sample for protein, RH test, blood samples for checking diabetes, iron levels, etc., Q&A opportunity and your next appointment in a month. I may have forgot something but I am 11 weeks along and have not seen a doctor yet. My stupid insurance company wont cover maternity and I have to wait 10 more days until I can have coverage. Wah!

call your doctor as soon as possible. They'll ask you to take a home pregnancy test first, then they'll schedule blood work. if that comes back positive. they'll schedule you for a 6/8 week appointment and another round of blood work. then it's like a yearly exam.

Best of luck.

In my experience, I wasn't seen until I was past 8 weeks.
They will do a pap smear, some blood tests, and they may do an ultrasound to check fetal size and heart beat.
