Tell it to those guys arrested for making dates with thirteen year olds. Everyone of them swore they didn't believe anything they read on the internet.

more depends on the timeline of net connection. If you can believe after 5 yrs of contact
otherwise probably typical 'liking' and difference between 'luv ya' and 'luv you'

personally i think in order to love someone you have to know them. you can know all kinds of things about someone you talk to online, but who's to say that's really who they are in real life... you can tell people anything you want when they don't know you personally.; i do believe that you can have feelings for someone that you've never actually met, but i don't think you can love them.

a lot of people in im's (instant messages) say love you, just as a different way of saying bye.
it's very common. it's a sign of affection..even if someone doesn't technically "love" someone...it's so common.
like girls can say it to girls..but if guys say it to girls, thats where it gets complicated.
if someone that said it to you (which was a guy) said it..he might have meant it.
talk to him about it, if it even happend.
