Tell him how you fell about hunting. I love to hunt myself and hope my kids will too. If they don't I will not force them to hunt.

It really takes a special breed of person to kill another living thing without passion or prejudice.

It takes something unique to look at a deer through the crosshairs of a scope, line the cross hairs up behind the front shoulder, squeeze the trigger, and watch the deer run away in sheer terror, not having the slightest clue what just happened. All the deer knew is that one minute, it was browsing in the woods, the next minute, something knocked it right over and they are hurt.

It takes a person that is slightly insane to pull the guts out of an animal, look inside, and think it will make a good steak.

None of these things make you a man. For me, hunting is about a state of mind and the raw beauty of nature. Killing an animal is actually anti-climatic for me. Still, animals must be killed and herds reduced to keep the surviving animals healthy and help prevent starvation.

The first deer I ever killed, I walked up to it and almost cried. I felt bad about taking the life of such a beautiful animal. As strange as it sounds, I love the animals that I destroy.

Hunting makes you no more of a man than driving a car, having sexual relationships, or watching sports. A man is defined by their actions. A man is someone who makes people’s lives better through his existence.

Tell your Dad that you are not interested in hunting. If you do it and kill a deer, it will change you forever.

Prove to you Dad that you are a man in other ways. Volunteer for some non-profit organization. Get a job. Most importantly, do well in school! Above all, strive to make yourself happy and those around you happy.

I hunt because I live on a farm and it controls the number of animals. But I have 3 sons and only one likes to hunt? never was made to or his brothers either a personal choice, the way it should be!As for killing an animal, sometimes it is a necessity, and always with respect. Cows ,chickens ,turkeys deserve respect but when the time comes they become dinner. We are all parasites on this earth, whether you believe it or not? When you pass on the bugs and worms will be waiting.

I hate to say it, but I feel sorry for your Dad. Killing a helpless animal has nothing to do with being a man. Acknowledge to yourself he has a problem, it is to big for you to attempt to address. No matter what it is in life, you have to stand for what you feel and know is right. You have to live with you. Tell him what he wants to hear, go hunting, just be a real bad shot, have a vision problem that prevents you from aim. And if he cook it, I'd develop a bad stomach virus, before it was ready. Do what ever it takes to keep with what you believe to be right and true, and at the same time make him think what he is going to think anyway.

It is my opinion that you should not be made to do it, however it does say in the bible that the animals were put here for our use, so it is ok to shoot a deer if you have a license if you are worried about it from that stand point. Also there are plenty of them..........and a lot of people are hunters..........you just need to express to your dad what bothers you about it and see if he will understand, not everyone wants to do what their parents want to do and that does not make you any less of a boy or a son!! Good luck!

Tell him you're only willing to shoot a deer with a camera. Lots of people, myself included, would not ever harm a beautiful creature like a deer. And I come from a family of deer hunters.

just go along with him do not argue and when you are old enough get as far away from him as you can but do not let him know how you feel it will only make him your enemy and now is not the time to have him against you because you are obviously dependant on him correct?after you get whatever it is you need from him tell him what you think of him then he will realize what a smart dude you are after all. hit him where it hurts in the pocket okay?? you wont change him never never

For some reason fathers like to see their sons grow up in their image. They get an idea before you are even born of what they want you to be, and they don't really care what you want. It is going to be tough, but you need to explain to your dad that you are not interested in hunting. He may be hurt, but I think it makes you more of a man to stand up for what you believe in, than if you give in to what he wants to avoid his disappointment. Good luck!

Some friends of mine just invited me to go up into the mountains with them and do a "little shooting". They hunted quail and birds. I hunted pine cones.

I felt like a man after wards - so can you!!!

Good luck,

A

in basic terms like hitting a deer (assuming you're utilising a shotgun), some (with any luck maximum) of the shot hits the deer and a few misses in basic terms like as quickly as we pass to the bathing room. We actual do hit the objective with maximum of our shot yet each so often there's a sprint overspray. ;)
