add the following to your list for consideration: The Rolling Stones,
The Kinks, Cream, The Yardbirds, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Guns 'n' Roses (at their peak, not what came later),
Motley Crue (in their prime), Aerosmith, The Clash, The Sex Pistols,
Talking Heads, The Ramones, The Police, Metallica, Motorhead, U2 AC/DC, Iron Maiden, The Scorpions, Queen and a few others than you haven't mentioned so far. I consider the classic rock genre to include artists from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s era of rock music.

Jimi hendrix was definately the greatest guitar player ever...as for classic rock i would say the rolling stones,band of gypsies, and bo diddly ..these guy's were major influences on music
