I'll tell you what it's not. We don't want to emulate the Russians in Afghanistan. (which is what Bush is doing in Iraq) Send our troops into a meat grinder for 10 years and then leave after the terrorists have taken control of the country.
If you want to know how to deal with terrorists, ask Israel. They've been doing it for a long time.

First, we have to stop humiliating the detained terrorists and assure that they get legal representation and are afforded all of the rights guaranteed by our constitution.
Next, we have to analyze why they continue to kill and maim thousands of innocent men, women and children and try to understand their concerns.
Then we will try appeasement, negotiations, diplomacy and appoint a committee to determine if this is truly a crisis at all.
Seriously:
A terrorists' rights vs. the potential death of more innocent people - I don't see the dilemma here.
What the hell ails these people who sympathize with these murderers?

Boy...some REAL enlightened political discourse here. Did you come up with that moniker yourself, or did your third grade sibling coin that?
The real answer, is to stabilize the nation and pull out so that US troops don't remain as an occupation force and recruiting tool for terrorists. Of course, were a Democrat in power we would've probably not stepped waist-deep in this quagmire called Iraq in the first place, since it is NOT tied to 9-11!!

Not lying about reasons for going to war would be their start.
Getting the guilty party (bin Laden) instead of going after third parties (Hussein) would be another.
And not playing fascist games with the country like the conservatives are doing would be another virtue the Democrats would offer.

Well for one we should stop giving Isreal money to kill thousands of Palestinians. Oh and maybe they wouldn't be so angry if we didn't invade their country and cause greif, strife and death there.
