Everyone has heard of the mid-life crisis. But years before we reach that stage, many of us go through an identity crisis that is just as debilitating and with potentially even more long-lasting consequences. Welcome to the “quarterlife crisis”.

You’ve got your whole life in front of you, the world is your oyster, your choices are almost limitless – and that’s just the problem. You’re overwhelmed. What should you do with your life? How do you know you’re making the right decisions? How can you even be sure about what it is you really want to do? How do you wade your way through all the choices and decisions you have to make on everything from your career to your relationships and how do you get started?

You're right. I had a quarter life crisis too. I remember turning 25 & saying "I'm a quarter of a century old!" & feeling like I had to decide my whole life. Don't worry. You don't have to decide everything! Every day of your life, even into your 80's, is a chance to change it all if you want to. Don't feel pressured to make all the right decisions. There are no wrong decisions. Just take a chance. Making mistakes is how you grow. Enjoy the journey. Things will fall into place.

If it's any consolation you will probably feel much more self-assured, confident in your 30's. Then you just have to worry about the mid-life crisis at 50...it's human nature for us to question ourselves & our lives. Especially when you reach a milestone like 20, 25, 30, 40, 50...you're at a new stage in your life & that makes you reflect on the past as well as think about what the future may hold.

The world is your oyster, so enjoy it! Just ask yourself what you want & then go for it! Even if you change your mind it's not the end of the world. That's how you find yourself. Don't paralyze yourself with fear thinking that every move you make is the be-all & end-all. There is almost nothing you can't undo if you change your mind. Give yourself a break.

Good luck! Enjoy your youth!

Believe me, it's IMPOSSIBLE to "plot" your life. Some impulsive decisions I made turned out to be the best I'd even dreamed of; some carefully thought out were disasters, (temporary), & I don't regret them because that's who I was, & they were learning experiences. Your future is VERY important, but unpredictable. There's no "starting"--you're there. Mix pragmatism w/intuition; strongly suggest you try not to "control" life or you'll go over the top. I'm in a successful profession into which I was dragged kicking & screaming 36 years ago. (Yes! 36 years!) Don't "wade," FLOW. & please enjoy your "quarterlife" & not MAKE it a crisis. My ex-husband once taped a note on my studio door, "The key to [me] is to relinquish control." At the time, I didn't realize how profound that was. I don't mean that you should just drift along with no goals or expectations, but these CHANGE over time--& life is quite fantastically magic if we just feel/explore/gain insights from the journey. (I'm NOT preaching, just sharing). One more thing--can't help myself!--if you feel "overwhelmed" you can get so tangled up, making any choices for NOW will be very difficult.

Only YOU can find the answers to your questions, if you are rigorously honest and sincere to yourself.
What you do with your life depends on what you WANT to do! We can't be everything --doctor, lawyer, artist, et all. What does your heart say?
Next, get as much information as is possible about your 'Dream- job, or dream-mate'. What does your heart say? Listen to it closely, and then decide. i.e: take the plunge! Decision = "Yes" or "No", black or white, Go or No-Go! Understand? Not " In case xxx happens, or in the event of xxx, then I shall consider yyy .
Make a bold plunge, and then take life as it comes, ONE dat at a Time!
Why do you want to make a "perfect" analysis or decision? Perfectionism is a big character defect is many of us. You CAN'T do everything perfectly! But God does not condemn you because things are not perfect!
In fact, He too discloses events to us, mercifully, just One Day at a time! So handle life as it comes!

Just relax and enjoy the ride. It's a lot more fun that way. You'll figure it all out as you go along. Don't sweat the small stuff----
it's all small stuff. But here is something you need to ponder,
"every thought I think is creating my future" because what you focus on expands! Have fun and do what interest you and the money will arrive.

first i dont know the question. so here is my answer.
im 13 and i know my identy because i know myself i am more mature then people who are older then me and im fine with that. i decided to not make bad desicions because thats who i am and i know what i want in life. so i work hard and i can ask for help when i need it. i make some desicions by asking a teacher who i can trust and then i go from there. but really its just knowing how much you can handle and how much you can do at one time. simple and yet so confusing

We're always in a crisis. Just don't think about it or you'll find your self not sleeping and think life is meaningless.
