I'm a U.S. citizen. I'm wondering if any Canadians here can tell about your celebration of Thanksgiving. What are the customs? Is it a BIG holiday, or a smaller one? Thanks.

Well, the person who said No, who lived near Montreal and hated this dreadful place called Canada, had a point..as he was in Quebec and most of us would agree on that.

But, those of us that don't live there, do celebrate the same as you do, with Turkey, family, friends..but I will concede on one issue, that is I do believe we did copy the USA Re: Thanksgiving, so thanks America..it's a great Holiday.

Our thanksgiving is not done around the pilgrims and plymouth rock. We celebrate the harvest. While an important holiday, it is bigger in the US. We are pretty low keyed and laid back in Canada. I personally find Christmas minus the presents is a bigger family holiday up here.

its a small holiday, we start by burning our old igloo's with baby seal fat, and running naked in the snow. followed by every Canadians favourite treat moose nuts and deer ears. after dinner we take turns wrestling in the snow for breading rights with the big chief's daughter, and then rebuild our small villages in preparation for the next 6 months of darkness and never ending snow.
what do you think when u cross the border everything is different, same customs, different day dumb a**

same... you take in the NFL games and we take in the CFL
both dates have been changed in the past...
different growing season...
all about the harvest, and giving thanks for it...
the American is to close to Christmas, as far as travel..you were just with family then right back again...
like the Canadian thanksgiving...same but different time.
