how do you thank a professor who helped you get an internship? what is your advice? i want to show gratitude. please be specific.

the professor is male. i am a female.
if you suggest gift certificate, please say how much. if you suggested wine, say what brand. if you sugested a pen, indicate brand and where i can get it. thanks!

definitely not wine, he may get the wrong idea... a gift certificate of about $20 would be fine.... also thank him by doing well at the internship and keeping in touch with him afterwards.

A nice thank you note is usually sufficient. If you want to add a little extra, flowers or a gift certificate to a restaurant/Starbucks is enough. You don't want to give too much.

Be professional. Send him a thank you letter and make sure it's business style. There are websites with examples.
