I smoke weed occasionally, I'm 15, and in highschool. I take all honors classes, and get B's. My doctor says I am perfectly healthy. I play guitar, and am in a band. Smoking occasionally means a couple times a week. I've been doing this for a year and half now, and have maintaned good grades. I am not even remotely interested in other drugs. The only reason I smoke is to calm myself down and relax. Please tell me what is wrong with this.

There are many that will say it's only a matter of time before you desire other drugs.Personally I smoked pot from 1967until 2002 almost every day. I currently have no lung cancer nor have I been treated for any mental disfunctions. I 've raised three bright childern, and I've done pretty well so far in my life! I never drink booze or wine, or beer, that stuff is nasty! You don't want to over due any drug, or any thing, that's no good for anyone.

I'm not here to judge you but I will answer your question based on my own experiences and the observations of others who have chronic issues with this drug. Some things to think about-

- When the highs aren't enough, what may be next, could be a big deal.

- With the jobs you are qualified for and see yourself doing and enjoying, your options do become limited if they require drug testing.

- If you ever find yourself needing to calm down and relax after you've smoked, what then?

- Regardless of the lack of health issues (for now) and apart from it not interfering with your grades (which could be the difference between B's and A's), it still remains illegal and you risk getting caught, arrested, and convicted which would haunt you for longer than people would have you believe (rammifications depending on the jurisdiction).

- And one last issue that most smokers fail to realize (and typically don't care about, ironically)- this is a drug that typically demoralizes one's conscience and thoughtfulness. The gray decisions a pot smoker makes under the influnce of this drug are more often given less attention to the effects they may have on one's own self as well as the feelings of others. Those morales are often degraded or eliminated altogether when in a clean and sober state they would have been more scrutinized with better outcomes, maintained bridges, and less harsh feelings.

I've been down this road and have asked these questions myself. Again, I'm not trying to judge you or tell you what to do, but whatever road you choose to travel, I hope you choose it in your best interest and the interests of those you care about, and who care about you. Good luck!

The reason why marijuana is illegal is that the gov. won't make any money if they did make it legal. If they made it legal, then the gov. would tax us on it and since marijuana is so easy to grow in our own homes, people would just do just that. So straight to the point: if the gov. don't make any money off a particular item, then it is considered illegal. Look at the cigarette companies, they are killing thousands of people every year. But the gov. is making loads of money off of it. Marijuana - 0 (I'm talking about smoking 100% marijuana, not laced) and also marijuana can also be used as a healing agent like arthritis.
I hope this helps.

Your so young... . I had the opportunity to volunteer at a hospital (Merci Hospital) and worked in the mental health department. The majority of patients were marijuana smokers of 15+ years and all of them showed a substantial decrease in axons, the neurotransmitter cells from the neural system. Marijuana works slowly and over the years, it diminishes the capacity to learn by corrupting the long term memory. The dense smoke resulting from pot is worst many times more than tobacco. And to those who say its not addictive, listen buddy, I have seen people in this centre prefer being locked in jail rather than quitting pot. Right now there isn't much what I can say about pot to convince you, sign as a volunteer and see it for yourself.

You are relying on a substance to calm yourself down and relax, there are others ways that don't involve taking something. Deep breathing, exercise, meditation... It does have side effects also, read up on medical disadvantages of marijuana, others have posted similar questions and received good answers.

it's addictive and if it doesn't affect you much now, eventually, it'll get a hold of you. And the most dangerous thing, in my opinion, is that there might a a time when u run out of money and can't buy weed, most people in that situation turn to syringe (sorry for the spelling) and needles and stuffs, and that when u might get HIV and other diseases

theres no big deal to smoking pot till you get behind a wheel of a car stoned or cooking something on the stove and nod off. Did you ever think that smoking annoys others whether its smoke from pot or a cigarette.

Hey...A couple of times a week is not considered occasional...And you're 15 years old...And you're doing this to calm yourself down...Down from what?...When you're a bit older and wondering why you can't remember what you did ten minutes ago...Then tell us your life is going just fine....BZZZZ

Tell your employers that when you start looking for a job... ~ Nobody wants to hire a pothead.

What does having a "B" average and having honors classes have anything to do with anything? You sound mediocre; too lazy to get straight "A's". I wouldn't hire you... pothead.

Theres nothing wrong with it, aslong as you arn't hurting anyone else.

Don't let anyone tell you not to do somthing for yourself becuase its stupid... everyone has diffrent values in this world 1 answer for somone may be totally diffrent for another.

If the possatives outweight teh negatives. go for it aslong as u don;t effect anyone else.
