My roommate/best friend at college left for the year to study abroad at Tokyo. I want to send her a middle-sized care package that include things like hot cheetos, nutella, and some trashy romance novels. I'm guessing that the package is going to be about 5 - 7 lbs.

The fedex and ups stores were not very helpful with giving me a specific price, so please be specific with the $$ amount as possible. Also, I'm in DC, if that helps.

We ship auto parts to other countries and have found that the cheapest method is actually the good ole US Postal Svc, you can check their website for the price using the weight

Ground is Cheapest, but, can take a very long time, looooong time! Ha!
Air much faster and I think there a few options. Each getting more expensive with less time. But, they cheaper than FedEx or UPS.

USPS. I'm Japanese and I send packages to my family in Japan every year. Other companies take less time but much more expensive.
