Probably because a UTI makes you go more often, so you are wiping more (irritating the area). A yeast infection can cause skin irritation on its own and is one of the symptoms.

Check out the yeast link at www.hufa.org, if you have recurrent UTI or yeast or both. It may help you understand and prevent.
