He was looking at being captured by the Russians. The Russians had just lost 20,000,000 people in this war, read that number again. What do you think the Russians would have done to Adolf. Remember that the Russians Liberated the worst of the concentration camps, and had survived the seige of Stalingrad. Then think again about what they would have done to Hitler if they got him alive. I think I would have chosen the easy way out as well.

The Russians were very brutish to their captured foes. Berlin, was going to fall, and Hitler was still there. Hitler knew that, and took the easy way out!

He didn't want to fall into Russian hands. If Americans had reached him first, he might have surrendered.

Hitler wreeked havoc upon those Russians. They're revenge was just as brutal.

To avoid Mussolini's fate. There was a contingency plan to fly him to Japan, but he wasn't interested. The allies were convinced that he would retreat to a mountain redoubt and continue guerrilla warfare. However the "wolf's nest" turned out to be a propaganda ploy designed to encourage a negotiated surrender.

Because he saw that he was loosing the war, or something like that. I think it was because the enemy (the awesome US) was coming near where he was, and being the a-hole he is, he didn't want us to kill him. So like the little son of a b****h he is, he commited suicide claiming that what he beleived in was right and justified.
NOTE- Hitler SUCKS!!!

He had killed the Russians for years. He know now they were knocking on his door. They wanted to play a little game with him called fire and ice. How could he ever lower him self to such indignity.

because he knew that he had lost the war, that there was no hope, and he could not bear the humiliation of being captured by the Allied powers and thence brought to trial for his war crimes.

Maybe because he was so neurotic his paranoia got the best of him. I guess it was better for him to burn out than fade away.
