Why do black folk always name a black person as their hero?

When asked who their biggest influence is in life or their favourite actor, singer or pop star is, black folk always name a black person.
White people also name black stars like muhamed ali etc surely somebaody black likes somebody white?

Because prior to the social revolutions of the 60's, Blacks didn't have the exposure to Black role models they have today. It was almost a completely White society. Mohammed Ali gave a great speech about this when he refused to serve in the White Man's Army, fighting for White causes, while Blacks remained a permanent underclass. Mohammed Ali, Martin Luther King, Jackie Robinson should be their heroes because they changed everything.

More stereotypical BS. How many Black people have you polled to come to this determination? As a Black person I have many Black heroes and prior to what one poster said, Black heroes have been admired throughout time, not just after the civil rights movement...(give me a break) I think Einstein, Galileo, Ann Richards and Leonardo Da Vinci were incredible. I also admire Bill and Hillary Clinton. And other Blacks do not consider Blacks traitors for having non-Black heroes...please stop espousing this ignorant propaganda.

you're able to as properly ask why while a white newborn is going lacking it is extra probably to get extra media and police interest than while a black newborn is going lacking. it is all economics, it is all approximately what tale will sell the main papers and books or get the main visitors. This society would not appreciate Blacks adequate as an financial team to pay adequate interest. You can answer that question pretty easily. What race are you and who is your hero? Think about it do you ever hear any other race calling black people their heroes? Why do you focus on black people when other races do it all the time? Come on!

Well, that's the case for just about any race. People typically look up to people in their own cultural group. This may be because they are the people they are most familiar with, or they do it out of pride for their own ethnic group. Saying that only African Americans do this is a bit narrow minded.

Basically we came to American and robbed the Indians of their land and then we gave them all these diseases and killed them and suck, then we enslaved black people and killed a bunch of them to oh and lets not forget the Mexicans and the people over in Iraq where we kill them daily and try to oppress the Mexicans from coming here when all they want is a better life for themselves which is why we came here in the first place. i agree with you on this. Its true. Ive named people before that are black but my friends will never name a white person. Maybee they feel like they are betraying their race i dunno. I do know that one the greatest heroes for anyone (martin Luther King) wanted no segregation and would be madd that the very people he was fighting for just denie everything he said.
