I am noticing that more and more often "Please send resume with handwritten cover letter..." Are they analyzing our handwriting? It is very nerve wracking to try to handwrite a cover letter. I saw an ad today asking for a handwritten resume. Whats up with this?

I've never seen that! Most companies want typed resumes and cover letters because they are MUCH easier to read, and if they use scanners to read resumes into database, handwriting just won't do.

However, I guess if they are asking for handwritten coverletters and resumes, they are tired of getting spammed/mass mailed generic resumes that aren't suitable for the jobs at hand.

If you have to write it all out by hand, you're going to be sure that you are eligible for the the job, and really want it.

I call it "insanity". Work for government related jobs like school teachers (large need right now), post office, VA hospitals, etc.
You get better benefits and less chance of being laid-off.

Also, you will NEVER get hired by providing a resume. If you want a job, you need these things (1) Completed application,
(2) Related job skills, (3) Experience in the work related area, and (4) Knowing someone that works for the company. But ALWAYS complete the application. The resume/handwriting thing sounds like they are just pulling your chain. Besides, when you fill out the application, they can get a sense of your handwriting from the application. (Ugggggggggghhhh. How sickening is it going to get?) Good luck.
