It's a very different film, and my kids and I enjoyed it very much. They were glued to the screen... my kids are ages 11 and 8. I also enjoyed it, and thought it was quite different... an excellent story, great animation, and wonderful dialog.

i've seen it. it's definitely a little darker than spirited away. it's about a young girl who works in a hat shop who is turned into a 90 year old woman one night by the Witch of the Waste. Because she's so ashamed of how old and ugly she's become she runs away where she starts to live in Howl's moving castle. She begins working with Markl, Howl's young apprentice, and Calcifer a magical spirit who keeps the castle moving. Howl is a sorcerer who is asked by his old mentor, suliman, to return and help with the war that's been going on. but it turns out that it is a trick to trap him. i don't want to ruin the rest for you because you really have to see this film. Although it wasn't written by Miyazaki, like Spirited away, was the animation is really amazing in this movie.
also, it didn't get an oscar like that other user said. it was nominated for best animated feature, but "wallace and gromit: curse of the were rabbit" (another great movie!) won.

It is SUCH a good movie!! It is about this girl who gets a spell put on her to make her really old, so she meets up with an enchanted moving castle where this guy named Howl lives and she becomes their housekeeper and takes care of the castle. I know I didn't describe it that good, but it is an AMAZING movie and you should definitely see it!! Calcifer is my favorite character!

It's good, but I don't think it is as good as Mononoke or The Cat Returns
