Change the assembly inside the tank. If this doesnt fix it than you have bigger problems.

I take it the toilet is making a whole lot of noise after you flush it. If this is the problem here is the cause and solution.

When you flush your toilet it releases all the water stored in the tank thorugh the outlet valve which in turn flushes everything out of the toilet. At the same time this is happening the inlet valve is activated and while the float on the inlet valve is low it holds the inlet valve open 100%, as the tank fills the rising float causes the valve to reduce the opening and this causes a whistling effect which is the annoying noise you hear after you flush the toilet. Now you know why it happens here is how to fix it!

Go to your local Mitre 10 store and buy a "Fluidmaster inlet valve" with this valve the inlet valve stays 100% open until the tank is full before it completely stops the incoming water in one action, therefore eliminating the noise when you flush the toilet.

If you are handy you can go to a plumbing supply store or Bunnings and pick one of these up, however if you have never tackled a similar project before it is best to go to a Mitre 10 store and find someone that knows what they are talking about and can tell you specifically how to fix your toilet.

I am guessing that the objectionable noise occurs when the tank and bowl are refilling post flush. First be sure that the valve coming out of the wall is sufficiently open; rotate it all the way to the left, then back to the right one-half turn. If that does not reduce the noise, install a "Fluidmaster" brand filler valve in the tank. Available at any home improvement store, even Wal-Mart. Installation instructions are very clear, only basic tools (adjustable wrench and pliers) necessary.

Stop flushing it so much. It won't make that noise anymore.
